"Musica es Vita" (Music is Life) reads the tattoo etched on Jamie J Sanchez's right arm. It's also his mantra, whether DJing at some of the world's hottest clubs, producing original tracks or preparing his weekly radio show, The Globe, for XM Satellite Radio. "Musica es Vita" is invisibly etched on them all.

With an appetite for massive, hands-in-the-air anthems, tough, tribal beats, and pumping, underground house sounds, Jamie J Sanchez knows how to bring a dance floor to life, unleashing wave after wave of energy with seamless mixing and a natural ability to connect with his audience. Maybe you've had a chance to witness this first-hand during one of Jamie's sets somewhere around the world . . . at Universe, Mezzanine or Fresh in San Francisco, Splash Bar in New York, Salvation or Heaven in London, Queen's Day Orange Ball in Amsterdam, at Fly in Toronto, Therapy in South Africa, Trade in Ibiza, or at U-Matic in Athens, Greece. And chances are you've also heard one of his energy driven, peak-time remixes in the sets of some of America's hottest DJs. Jamie's 1999 remix of "Got The Groove/Shhhh...Be Quiet" still gets regular play by DJs including Manny Lehman, Kimberly S, Billy Carroll and Chris Cox. More recently, Jamie's massive remix of Ceevox's "My Imagination" has been a highlight in the sets of DJ Escape and DJ Paulo.

Indeed, Jamie has spent the past 13 years developing his musical ear. In 1990, at the age of 18, Jamie J Sanchez got his first introduction to the underground club scene in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona spinning alongside popular DJs including Eddie Amador and Marcus Schultz. It didn't take Jamie long to master the technique of mixing and by the time he was 22, he had attained wide-spread popularity for his talents on the decks in Phoenix. In 1995, Jamie realized it was time to take the next step and try his luck in a big city. That city was San Francisco.

Now, more than eight years later, there is no doubt that Jamie has made his mark on the City by the Bay. Jamie's first big break in San Francisco came in 1997 with a surprise encounter with one of the city's formost promoters. After hearing him spin at one of San Francisco's local hotspots, famed club owner Audrey Joseph invited Jamie to come work at her now legendary Saturday night mega-club, UNIVERSE. Within a few months, Jamie was appointed head Resident DJ and Music Director and UNIVERSE began drawing ever larger numbers. With Jamie at the musical controls, the club's attendance more than doubled to over 2,000 clubbers every Saturday night.

But Jamie was already looking to broaden his fan base and try something different. In 2000, he took the opportunity to move to London, England and expand his DJ career even further. During his two years living in London, he secured regular gigs at world-reknowned clubs including the legendary HEAVEN and SALVATION while still returning each month to play at UNIVERSE. Jamie played throughout Europe gaining musical influence that would later propel him to expand his trademark sound. With the subsquent closing of UNIVERSE in July 2002, he was lured back to San Francisco with the opening of MEZZANINE, where he currently works as the head Resident DJ and Music Director.
